Free e-book: God's Debris

"God's Debris isn't the final answer to the Big Questions (quantum physics, evolution, God, gravity, etc.). But it might be the most compelling vision of reality you will ever read," says its author Scott 'Dilbert' Adams. Yes, it's a free download, no strings attached:

It's free because it’s designed to be discussed with people who have also read it. I’m confident that some percentage of the free e-book readers will be inspired to buy a physical book for friends or for their own collection. And if you like it, you might want to try the sequel, The Religion War, available only in hardcover. At the end of the e-book you’ll find some links to Amazon.com for your impulse-buying pleasure.

1. The "free" download is a PDF download - pretty much worthless for eBook reading on PDAs.
2. Yes, you CAN load it up in Actobat and save as text, but the resulting text file will take a fair amount of editing to make an ejoyable eBook.
3. The text of this book was available online last year (not legally, of course) in a nicely formatted text file.

So, it's not a "day late and a dollar short". It's more like "a year late and $10 short."

I'm not as concerned about reading PDF's now as I used to be. A fast VGA device running Repligo or Acrobat reader v2 handles them pretty well, in fact. I still don't like the format, but I'll take a look at it. Thanks for the heads up!

It's sad proof that most book authors still don't know about the shortcomings of proprietary file formats.
