Star Trek S1E25: The Devil In The Dark
This is the one with the Horta (a silicon-based alien that looks a bit like a lumpy pizza): This is reportedly William Shatner's favourite Trek episode. Later on, an early episode of Next Generation tried to do something similar. |

Just finished an epic binge of all 12 seasons of New Tricks - which aside from being decidedly non-PC in humor, twisty in plots, and a showcase for every veteran UK character actor you can think of -- managed the neat trick of replacing every major character/actor from the pilot without dropping in quality (IMHO) or quirkiness.

I watched the last two epis for this season of that After Paradise or Beyond Paradise or whatever. JUST when I was starting to like this season, thinking "oh, thank god, they made it less soapy and more DIP," sure enough, the soap just poured on down. I won't mention it all, b/c I don't want to spoil it for the rest of you, but damnation, they just CANNOT resist, can they? Sheesh. Less soapy soap, more murder. Cozy murder, granted, but murder nonetheless. More detecting. Hitch |

Baby Reindeer, on Netflix. It'a heavy watch, but still interesting.

Acceptable Risk was an excellent IMO 2017 Irish miniseries. Now the same people have made Hidden Assets, at least as good if not better. An Irish CAB agent (Criminal Assets Bureau) busts a small-time drug dealer and finds a fortune in diamonds and the deed to a $million flat in Antwerp, where a terrorist bombing has just occurred. Her investigation leads to her teaming up with the Antwerp inspector on that case. It's pure detective work, refreshingly free of personal drama, sex and gratuitous violence.
We watched the Spanish series I Know Who You Are, half soap opera and half mystery - not great but we made it through the 16 long episodes. Then the French The Awakening, not sure how to describe and apparently canceled before explaining anything. and Lakeside Murders, a decent series from Finland. Now starting another French series Munch which looks promising. |

Last night we finished Bodkin. Which we both enjoyed. And over the weekend we watched the first half of the third season of Bridgerton. Which is more my sister's thing than mine. I did enjoy the first two seasons, but I feel this season is more rom-com than the previous ones.
Tonight we'll probably watch the new three part dig of Time Team on YouTube. |
