Can somebody please describe the differences of text highlighting compared to the PW/KT?

I think you have that and other comparisons in this video:

Some time ago, I started writing a windows tool for extracting annotations and highlights from the database (cf. this post). Since I learned later that annotations are also available in xml files I did not continue this project. The tool is therefore in a raw state, but working. Feel free to use it at your own risk.

Nice tool. Works flawlessly with my Glo. Please, would you share the Delphi source? I'm thinking about a little tool to tweak the database, e.g. creating an account offline and so on.

I started watching the video to see about highlighting, I've only used it once to look up the definition of word, probably the primary purpose of the function and found a huge problem with the video. The first section was on the lighting and showed the glow being very blue and overly bright. The user never reduced the intensity of the Glo during his demo and they continued to look blue which he did in fact mention. This all irritated me enough i really never got into the highlight portion.
I just took my Glo into a completely dark room and turned on the glo.. No blue at all, not even a smudge or tint of blue. Either that guy had a defective Glo or was trying to improve the Kindle's desireability. Sorry to cause a problem, but no GLOs (that I've seen_ three) are blue and Kindle's have a good bit of blotchiness. Could someone else with a Glo check theirs' and post. My Glo and my daughters' and the bookstore all have dead gray/white screens when lit.. I hate to see a great product unfairly presented..especially when competing, the giant of the industry.. makes me wonder.. Quote:

Since I did not follow a strict plan from the beginning, but rather added piece after piece at later times without rewriting the older code, there is some redundancy in it. Therefore, I feel a bit uneasy sharing it. Anyway, in order to compile the project you need to have Tnt Delphi Unicode Controls installed, or to rewrite some parts accordingly if you have a Delphi version that supports unicode controls.

Wow, thank you . Looks good for me. Lol, when I'm starting to code something from scratch, it always looks like devil's medley at the first days. That's normal. Now I have the sqlite-basics for a little app to play around with the Kobo database. Thanks again.

I've had 3 kindle paperwhites all with blotchy spots. My Kobo Glo is very uniform and even with no colors.
The only thing I am frustrated about is that I can't highlight from one page to the next and they don't save automatically to any kind of cloud like Amazon has. I really love that feature. Also, no wikipedia entries on the Glo. I guess I'll have to compromise these things for a better reading experience. |

My Glo's 'background' doesn't look the least bit blue no matter the light level. The light is also extremely even. In fact it's much much better in both respects than I had expected before getting it.
I think the goodereader guys must have got a bum unit. My sole complaint with the device is the light doesn't go quite low enough: it's actually better for daytime reading - where the light makes the screen look much better - than for in bed, when it's too bright to be comfortable imo.
