Adobe patches latest Reader security flaw
Adobe on Tuesday issued a new version of Reader and Acrobat to fix what they called a "critical" security vulnerability in the programs that hackers could use take control of affected systems.
Adobe recommends that you either use their automatic update feature to install version 8.1.1 or manually download and install the update. Disclosure of the security exploit and official description: link and link |

Do we really need Adobe ?
I've just discovered PDF-Xchange Viewer; it's free, fast (well, compared to Adobe Reader...), and you can even write on your PDF (not like Adobe Reader where you must buy this special version). |

Is there a good replacement for OS X? I don't like Preview.app and use Adobe Reader at the moment, but maybe there is something even better.

The latest Adobe Reader 8 won't read DRM PDF and it's pissing off a lot of people who have such.

I thought the name of the software was Adobe Acrobat Reader It's kind of important to mention since now 'Reader' has become generic of the devices used for ebook reading. Adobe has no reader as of now.

Originally on Unix systems and Windows the acrobat reader was called acroread many eons ago and it was always defined to be the reader for Adobe Acrobat files. In English this is the interpretation of Adobe Acrobat Reader where Acrobat is an adjective for the word Reader telling what the Reader can read.

I am pretty sure they call it "Adobe Reader" now.
